Welcome to Peterlee History: Preserving Our Town’s Rich Heritage Together

Welcome to Peterlee History, your new online resource dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of our town. We are a group of local enthusiasts who believe that the story of Peterlee is best told through the voices of its people. Our mission is simple: to collect, archive, and share the memories, images, and stories that make Peterlee unique. Whether you’ve lived here all your life or just have a few cherished memories of the town, your experiences are a vital part of our shared history.

Through this website, we aim to create a living archive that reflects the vibrant and diverse past of Peterlee. We’re passionate about engaging the community and encouraging everyone to get involved. By contributing your personal stories, photographs, or historical insights, you help us to build a comprehensive picture of Peterlee’s history. This collective effort will not only preserve our local heritage for future generations but also foster a deeper connection to the town we all call home.

Our group has five core aims: to preserve the local heritage, engage the community, create an online archive, educate and inspire the public, and promote collaboration with local organizations. Each of these aims is driven by our commitment to making the history of Peterlee accessible and meaningful to everyone. We invite you to explore our website, share your memories, and join us in this exciting project. Together, we can ensure that the story of Peterlee continues to be told for years to come.
