South West I & II (1958 – 1962)
In the first phase of the South West Area, Victor Pasmore (Consulting Director of Urban Design) Frank Dixon (Building Architect) and Peter Daniels (Landscape Architect) settled upon an orthogonal layout system (roads and houses set at right angles to form a grid pattern).
The layout plan for the South West I & II Areas shows that there were 12 different house types amongst the 269 properties.

Landscape Architect Peter Daniels designed play features for two toddlers play areas in phase I & II. None of these have survived and no photographic record of them has thus far come to light. Though the design of this screen is reminiscent of the constructionist wall reliefs made by Victor Pasmore, it may well be the work of Daniels.
